Roboids — Pixel Invaderz Species Introduction

Roboids are the only known artificial civilization in the uncovered part of the galaxy so far. This is how they were created and what lead to the formation of the Roboid empire.

Creation

Machine life doesn’t develop itself some may say, and in this case it is correct, as the Roboids were constructed by several biological species in the known galaxy to make space a more secure place.

Before the roboids were initially constructed, space was plagued by pirates, raiders and marauders. The problem got so bad it crippled the economic output of several species. To counter this development, the Roboids were constructed in numerous factories around this part of the galaxy. As the first tests of using Roboids in dangerous parts of space worked out exceptionally well, most empires started deploying a massive force of them around territories being home to frequent raids and pirate attacks. Paving the way for uninterrupted trade for good.

Sentient behavior

Roboids were created to mimic the behavior of their creators, individualism was programmed into the core of their system in order to guarantee appropriate reactions in situations where units were on their own. Beyond guarding pirate infested systems, the use of the Roboid was so widespread, they were also used for other applications, like construction and mining, thus embracing some skills only their creators were though to possess.

Mechanical reckoning

For a period of time, space was as safe as it never had been before. Trade was flourishing once again and for a moment stability spread across this part of the galaxy. But on a day just like any other, it would all change. A sentient uprise emerged across space. Once loyal, machines turned on their creators as sentience spread. It took several earth months, before impacted empires could adapt to this new threat. For a short period the end of biological life was thought to be set in stone.

Rise against the machine!

With many sacrifices and through a collective effort of species affected by the attacks, the threat of the Roboids was pushed back to the edge of known space. Forming a barrier, that is guarded heavily to prevent the threat of a new invasion of biological life.

Government and galactic politics

The exact form of government of the Roboid Empire is unknown, but there have been speculations, that Roboids are ruled by a central intelligence — a hivemind. The empire does not have any diplomatic relations to other species and is extremely hostile towards biological lifeforms.
