Insectoids — Pixel Invaderz Species Introduction
First contact to this species was established by the Antoids during an exploration mission on the lower parts of the known galactic map. But even on this special occurrence, the Insectoids weren’t impressed and just continued as nothing happened…
Mysterious Evolution
Details on the history of the evolution of the Insectoids are sparse. But examinations of several specimens suggest, that they evolved from creatures, that were far smaller, than current specimens.
Biology
Insectoids can divided into three individual classes: workers, drones and a queen. Nothing is known about the biology of the queen as no outside intelligent life has been able to catch a glimpse of her existence, but the societal structures of the empire suggest, that a higher being may exist. On the other hand way more is known about the workers and drones, as they come into frequent contact with other alien empires. These specimens feature two compound eyes on the side of their head, as well as two antennas which protrude from the sides of their nostrils. Said antennas can be used for communication, as they can be used to vibrate at certain frequencies, thus sending signals to other specimen.
Society
As stated before, the Insectoids are considered a hivemind species. Meaning, that information is not held by individual specimens, but rather by a collective intelligence, that is shared with everyone.
Since Insectoids are divided into drones, workers and queens, a large part of their population serves as the first two types. This enormous workforce performs incredibly efficiently and forms the base of several Insectoid-owned galactic mega corps that produce consumer goods.
Government and galactic politics
The Insectoid empire is controlled through their central intelligence as well as their queen. When it comes to galactic relations, the Insectoids are known to take a neutral stand on most things. But keeping out of conflict allowed them to slowly expand their empire, even though they are considered to be non-expansionist by most empires.
