Mysterious Evolution

It’s a mystery from what forms of life the Fungoids we know today developed. But it’s likely that Fungoids were different beings to begin with, but were impacted by a mass spread fungal attack which was inherited and integrated into their biological systems over time. This evolutionary step made them incredibly adaptable to harsh climates, since it allowed them to develop an extremely solid skin which consists of a thick fungus-like layer that offers perfect insulation.

Fungoid biology

The exact biology of the Fungoids is not entirely known, but what’s on the surface has been carefully examined and analysed. A standard specimen features 3 pairs of eyes and 2 big nostrils, which often get mistaken for their eyes because of their size.

As stated before, their skin consists of a rugged fungus-like layer, which provides perfect protection against severe climates. This trait makes their skin and overall appearance very wrinkled and organic. Lucky for them, this makes expanding to new systems and colonizing new planets quite easy for them. As they can effortlessly adapt to new environments and climate conditions.

Society and government

The Fungoid society is split into several social classes and are ruled oligarchic by some parts of the so-called elite — The highest social class in their system. Individual rights of the average specimen are few and far between.

Galactic politics

When it comes to diplomacy, Fungoids are not very talkative. More often than not, they start to attack rather than to start communication with their opponent. They’re generally considered to be very hostile and xenophobic and usually stay out of diplomatic relations. Naturally, Fungoids are a rapidly expanding species, their evolutionary advantages over other species only fuel their momentum.
