Evolution

The first creatures, that resembled the Antoids, started to develop around three million years ago far below the surface of their planet. Certain caves that served climates acceptable for life were the initial breeding grounds of their civilization. Adapting to live in dark caverns, Antoids developed a strong sense of hearing, which they used in combination with their two antennas for navigation. Antoids eventually evolved to have eyes in order to find prey in caves that were lit by certain bioluminescent flora. Slowly, first social structures formed and first steps towards intelligent life were taken.

While in the past Antoids mostly lived in small groups of ten to fifteen specimens, the first settlements with populations of more than a thousand were constructed around 100,000 years ago. But Antoids wouldn’t always prevail below the surface. On a special day around ten thousand years ago, five fearless explorers were on the lookout for new territory to claim. By accident, they discovered the surface of their home planet, an event that would change the civilization’s perception of reality forever!

Biology

The average Antoid specimen features two luminescent eyes as well as two antennas located right above. On the left and right part of their face are two pairs of facial claws, that can be used for consumption and the manipulation of small objects. Antoids also feature two arms, that have two shears attached to them, initially for climbing around in caves these parts of their body do no experience much usage nowadays. It is expected that the two shears will develop even smaller as evolution progresses.

Society

With new space to expand on the surface, huge cities developed housing millions, helping them adapt quickly to their new-found glory. First nations formed on the surface and economic as well as scientific output went grew exponentially! It wasn’t long before they would take off to the stars, further expanding their reach!

Government and galactic politics

Antoids are governed by several democratically elected leaders that can serve up to a maximum term length of 20 earth years. For their galactic relations, the Antoids are known to be friendly towards new alien life and are very cooperative with other species that have a similar kind of government. They have several diplomatic ties to other democracies in the known galaxy.
